Carmen Taracena

My artistic journey began at a very early age. During my secondary school years, I immersed myself in drawing competitions and explored a wide range of techniques.

Later, I pursued a degree in Arts and Graphic Design, where I began the search for my own artistic identity.

Although I paused my professional career to dedicate myself fully to motherhood, I returned to my brushes five years ago with renewed intensity. I re-emerged with a more refined artistic vision, a process deeply connected to my childhood memories and contemporary realities, and committed to giving a continuous voice to women.

In each piece, there is an interior conversation within myself. It reflects current circumstances and social issues, which appear in the symbolism of the worlds I portray.

My intention is to give voice to ordinay issues matter and that have been hidden in my renders over the years.

I am always seeking a dialogue with the viewer, an intimate connection that allows them to experience these stories as their own.

The day begins as a vast blank canvas. By nightfall, it should hold the brightest colors of our effort to share ourselves with the world.

My work is born from fragility and strength: I transform my experiences as a woman into colors, textures, and forms that invite reflection.
